Home Made Ice Cream

Published 06/05/2012 by Amy

I’ve made this a couple of times now. Got the idea from Ty and Gray they are awesome. I don’t have a picture of todays yummy bowl because you have to eat it fast or it pools in to milky messyness! I’ll try and remember next time. It’s delicious and only takes 5 minutes – great idea for. Fun summer party idea though.

You will need:
1 x large ziplock bag
1 x small ziplock bag
1/2 cup of milk (any you choice)
6 tspn ofrock salt
1 tbsn of sugar
1/4 tspn flavouring I used Peppermint.

Fill the large ziplock bag halfway with ice and salt, give it a good shake. Put the milk, sugar and flavouring into the smaller bag, get as much air out before you seal and shake. Puy the sealed small bag into the bigger bag and surround with ice, add more if you need too then get as much air out as you can and seal. Shake for 5 minutes and tada! Home made ice cream for one. I recommend having gloves and a towel at hand for the shaking!

Spoon out into a bowl and avoid touching the sides of the bags which eill be covered in salt.

Yum.

So that was our lazy sunday, in the garden reading and playing followed by home made lasagna and ice cream.

Castles and Crafts

Published 16/03/2012 by Amy

I miss crafting/scrapbooking and I know I can’t do as much as I used to but the odd bit of sticking and stamping I do enjoy.. I’ve been watching Natasha‘s videos on YT for quite a while now, she gives me the fun of creating things, without me actually doing it, she does demo’s and tutorials, and occasionally craft hauls!

I decided to head on over to the site she’s been talking about for a while and I found some goodies I’m looking forward to playing around with. Nothing to fancy, just the basics.. I’m thinking of covering a DIY photo frame and maybe some bookmarks.

For one day, every year, Luscombe Castle is open to the public. They have stalls with cakes, books and plants, and everyone from town walks or drives up the 15 minute driveway to wander in the vast, green, spring smelling, yellow daffodil wash of gardens, with their Victorian style hedges, gothic stonework and empty fish ponds. The ‘Castle’ is really just a big stone house with a private chapel, and one or two other stone cottages dotted about on the landscape.

I can’t put into coherent sentences the vibe I get walking around the grounds, it’s homely, I wish I lived there, it takes you back in time and the birds chirping are just.. other worldly. I didn’t take my huge camera today, wanted to test out the new camera on the iPhone, and of course I instagrammed my favourites.

What places take you on a mind adventure?
Have a great weekend!

Halloween Creations

Published 30/10/2011 by Amy
My family doesn’t celebrate Halloween but I know that a lot of people do. I wont go into my whole essay on how I hate that every holiday seems to be commercialized and lost it’s true meaning, because that would bore everyone, including myself. So instead I decided to trawl tumblr and google for interesting Halloween themed creations, because I do like the creative aspect of holidays and what people do. Here are just a few, mainly food themed, favourites.

Have a Happy and Safe Halloween if you celebrate it. Don’t egg to many houses, remember your please and thank you’s and take a flash light if you are trick or treating.

Pic Post As Promised (bag and quilt)

Published 23/10/2011 by Amy
I have a very talented friend called Jenn who spoils me rotten with her creative creations. I received the awesome dino bag last week. I’m lucky to have a friend who is as completely obsessed with dinosaurs as much I am. I don’t think I will ever grow out of it. The quilt was made the year before and I’ve had it on my lap pretty much every day but I don’t think I have shared it previously on my blog – so here it is as well. Enjoy I certainly do.

I didn’t just get the bag, when I opened it up there were goodies inside too!!

And here is the quilt she made for me last year, and I certainly needed it this past winter. It’s already a fixed part of my wardrobe for this autumn.

Tying Something New.

Published 30/09/2011 by Amy

I downloaded the sketchbook app onto my iPad and I’ve fallen in love with drawing and doodling all over again. It was another thing I’ve had to give up over the years that I have found very difficult because drawing and writing have always been a big part of my life, for work and as a hobby.

So far I’ve just been doodling with my finger as I don’t have any kind of stylus implement but after some good results and a lot of fun – I’m thinking of getting one. There seems to be quite a few out there so I’ll have to assimilate reviews and nail down 3-5 best choices to take to parents and hint for a Christmas present addition. Well, not really hinting because mums been with me the whole time and she suggested it for a Christmas present.

I need to work out a working routine for blogging and making videos now that the technological side is sorted. It needs to fit in around my day and with Ellie. I think I’ll have the weekends off. I can use the time to plan blog topics and video topics. That way I can focus on bringing you 3-5 blog posts and 5 videos every week. Good content with subject matter that matters!. Not filler posts. I want to make it more structured, of course keep all my interests included jut more efficient I guess is what I’m going for.

Youtube And Schtuff

Published 19/09/2011 by Amy
Woah… today has just been one of those long kind of frustrating weird days. I’ll be glad to dive under my duvet and hug my hot water bottle till it burns and fall asleep tonight.
But before I do that, I figured I should post my accomplishments on here today and share with whoever is out there, and if they care um yeah, ok, right.

‘Helloooooo utuuuuube’.
I mentioned awhile ago that I was playing around with the idea of doing a series of videos on the topics of being blind, my experiences, and helpful tips and advice for sighted people interacting with blind people in day to day situations… I felt that sometimes I don’t really get what I mean across totally through text, I also tend to forget obvious things because I’m in a dreamworld thinking I am normal, therefore everyone just ‘gets’ me. So.. I’ve created a Youtube channel to accompany the blog posts and hopefully people will understand what I’m talking about. I had some issues with the syncing after uploading to youtube but I finally solved the problem.

I’ve posted a quick video about the to do’s and not to do’s on guiding a blind person (especially across a road). But here is my very vague intro to why I’ve made a channel.

I apologize profusely for the amount of um’s and fidgeting that I always complain about when others um and er on the tv..

Today I also checked out the new Sainsbury’s that’s recently been built near here, mid afternoon was a good time to go, it wasn’t to noisy or busy which always stresses me out even though Ellie thrives off of chaos. I got some peppers and brown rice for my stirfry for dinner tomorrow and my mum got me a cool red cardy that will go awesomely with my Be Beau black dress with the peter pan collar, thanks mum!.

Here is what I wore today.

Have a great week!

Birthday Bits And Bobs Box

Published 13/08/2011 by Amy
It’s a friends Birthday at the end of the month so I’ve been putting bits and pieces together in a shoebox, it’s more of a memory box really. I hope she likes it! I’ve loved collecting and arranging things in it. In case she’s reading this I wont divulge what’s in it yet, but once the day has been and gone I’ll talk more about it and if I remember to take pictures before I send it, I’ll post those too.

Rowlands fair has descended into the town center for the next 2 weeks, so it’s an ‘outside migraine’ endless same pointless beat of outdated so called music, screaming, yelling, drunken singing, drunken yelling, high pitch rides, and any grockles around in town probably going on all the over priced rides. Strangely enough, not many of the locals using it, but it’s passed it’s novelty now having it here every year for probably the last 20 years. It’s unusually warm here so you have to have the windows open because we don’t have AC living in the UK or at least we don’t because we’re not rich. We can’t even put double glazing in our windows because our house is stupidly ‘listed’ for no apparent reason. The building next door is older and is not listed.

This morning we went for a walk in the local forest, once a week I give Ellie a free run off the lead and harness so she can go crazy and get out all the energy. We met a couple of dogs along the way but they weren’t her size so she didn’t play chase like she usually does.

I love walking in the forest, the bouncy red earth underneath my feet with the occasional small pine-cone that’s blown off the tree before it’s gotten to a decent size, the smell of fir, the rustling almost musical leaves, black silhouetted trees standing tall and filtering the white light that comes down from a blank page sky, little birds chirping at varying intervals and volumes. Magical, I feel close to God there and it’s the most peaceful place I know, even more so than my home, my room. It over looks the sea, which I can’t see, but I always ask if my parents can see it, most of the time it’s to misty but today they could see it, and even sand banks, so the tide must have been out a fair way!.

Pizza night tonight.

Dominoe Play

Published 23/07/2011 by Amy

My computer was playing up (yet again) I don’t know whats wrong with it. For some reason Amazon mp3 page, iTunes, Chrome and Firefox all seem to have issues loading plus I can’t login to vimeo because the facebook login page won’t connect. I’ve got security stuff on here ( I think the guy who last fixed my pc set it to high and I don’t know what to do about it) there’s nothing wrong with my internet provider or connection. I’ve tried taking the battery out, rebooting, restoring, uninstalling, reinstalling, troubleshooting, scanning, phoning tech people, emailing the guy who fixed it less than a month ago. Nadda.

So.. to amuse myself this weekend I decided to try and have a go at a stop motion video, I have a bunch of ideas for more now I’ve got over the first bit. It was a lot of fun and I feel less stressed now I’ve done something creative.

Shower and hopefully some sleep tonight, please.
